What Sex and the Lord’s Supper Have in Common

I read an article about sexuality this morning. Lest you start wondering if I have too much free time on my hands, this may have been one of the most intellectually challenging and grammatically obtuse ten pages I have ever read. The author is Rowan Williams, the current and soon-to-step-down Archbishop of Canterbury. It’s a lecture he gave back in 1989. I read it because I hope to be doing some writing about homosexuality during my study week (August 20-27). I’ve felt for some time that we’re probably not going to gain a better understanding of homosexuality without a better understanding of sexuality itself. Both continue to be mysteries to me, mysteries that I believe are teaching me. (more…)
